No matter what type of session you are planning for- a senior about to graduate high school, your annual family photos, engagement photos to share your big news, or your maternity session to welcome in the new addition-

you want to have photos that are unique to you.

I love to work with my clients and create a plan to showcase what makes them special. I use these five different ways to create one-of-a-kind images for my clients.

1.It’s All In The Details

As a photographer, I love to find out the meaning behind the details of your session. Some people like to incorporate a piece of family jewelry or bring your pet along. Adding even just one personal item can help make your photos stand out from the rest. For my own personal maternity photos, I had brought ultrasound photos and little cowboy boots that we used in our pregnancy announcement.

2.Location Is Key

I am more than happy to recommend location ideas for sessions, it is part of my job to know where we can get great photos. But I always love getting a special request on where we will meet. Maybe it is the family farm or the place you went to on your first date. Or maybe you just love the style. I primarily shoot outside, so depending on the time of day and year the location can vary in looks.

I will ask what type of style you want, something a little more urban or rural. Depending on the look you want, we can narrow down to a few different locations.

3.Have Fun With Your Closet

I am a firm believer that you will enjoy the session and the end result more if you are relaxed and are having a good time. I also like to think that picking out a new outfit for the session makes it a little more exciting.

Now you don’t have to spend a lot of money on a completely new wardrobe. I want to show off your personality and your closet reflects who you are. But if you wanted to get a statement piece like a new jacket or a fun piece of jewelry to add a little sparkle to your outfit, why not? Go check out the boutiques in your area, chances are they are going to have fun statement pieces that not everyone is going to have.

4.Make It An Event

I have loved the idea of doing a date night session. Let’s go do something that the two of you enjoy and make a night of it. Or maybe the family wants to bake cookies at home or play wiffle ball in the backyard. Being able to move around helps kids enjoy being in front of a camera more. Plus this type of candid session allows for unique images that a traditional session wouldn’t get.

5.Just Have Fun With It

Again, you will get what you put in to your session. As the customer, your attitude can shine through your photos. If you aren’t having fun, that is all you will be able to see and won’t be able to enjoy the final product. But if you relax and enjoy the moment, you will have photos that you will cherish for years to come.

And those fun and loving memories will make the photos truly one-of-a-kind. <3
